Course Summary
The curtain is rising on our newest generation of theatre artists! This introductory course provides our youngest actors with the tools they need to perform in front of an audience.Students will broaden their artistic capabilities through portraying different emotions, learning music, understanding a story, and using skills that contribute to a well-rounded performance. The stage is set for our newest group of stars!

Course Summary
This course serves as an in-depth introduction to the craft of acting. All students will be introduced to beginning acting techniques to develop, define, and practice artistic expression with technical proficiency.Students will learn to use the voice and body as instruments of self-expression and communication in performance and will develop their mental, physical and vocal flexibility.
Students will be challenged to expand their expressive potential as they exercise body, voice and imagination through improvisation, acting with words, acting without words, ensemble work, characterization, experimentation, acting exercises, and monologues.

Acting I: Connecting with an Audience

Course Summary
This is a continuation of the acting skills development begun in Acting I. The course examines the acting process in a deeper sense through more difficult exercises, scene study, and observation.Upon completion of this course, students will have a solid grounding in the fundamentals of acting, the ability to apply more complex thought and action to their work as an artist, and will be able to apply and demonstrate this knowledge in performance

Acting II: Building A Better Actor

Course Summary
This rigorous course will serve students interested in performing in musicals or plays with a musical element.Students will explore acting techniques that apply directly to song, increase their knowledge of musical theater vocal styles, understand the process of selecting pieces for their audition repertoire, and understand that the story of the song comes first. Accompanist will be provided for the course, but all students are expected to purchase and bring their own sheet music and binder.
*Curriculum varies slightly from Fall to Spring, so students who were enrolled in the Fall are encouraged to enroll again to extend their training.

The valuable skill of improvisation helps actors to think fast, listen to one another, and to always bring fresh ideas to the table! Actors will strengthen their listening skills through fast-paced improv exercises, explore dialect and physical comedy by constantly being asked to create new and comedic characters, and understand the importance of the “Yes! And…” mentality as performers.*It is suggested that students who enroll in this course have taken Acting I or Acting II

Think Fast: Improvisation

Course Summary
This dance class serves the student who wishes to learn the basic principles of the musical theater dance style.Students will learn basic technique, musicality, and how to learn and perform a dance combination with energy and theatricality to some of Broadway’s greatest hits.
Dancers are responsible for providing their own shoes (character shoes, jazz shoes, tennis shoes), and are expected to wear comfortable, modest clothes to move in and keep hair pulled back out of the face.

Beginning Broadway Dance

Course Summary
Dancers will refine their training in musical theater dance styles through heightened combination difficulty, fast-paced classroom environment, and choreography inspired by some of Broadway’s most well-known dance shows.Students will be challenged to pick up choreography at an increased rate, challenge their basic technique with more intricate steps, and utilize their facial expressions and physical energy to portray characters as if they were preparing for a Broadway dance audition.

Building off the fundamentals learned in Scene One, Take One – Acting for Film & Television, this advanced course will continue your screen acting journey by showing you how to begin building a professional career in the film and television industry.In addition to your film acting training, you will learn how to build your acting resume, your reel, getting the right headshots, preparing for film, TV, and commercial auditions and how to take control of your own career by creating your own content.

Course Summary
This course is catered towards advanced dancers who wish to express their creativity through choreography. Dancers will explore various styles of dance within Musical Theater (jazz, tap, lyrical, etc.) and use those skills to create choreography and get feedback from an experienced instructor.Students will collaborate with each other, be challenged to think outside of the box, and ultimately grow in their craft as dancers and future choreographers. This course is designed to prepare students to choreograph for Artisan Children’s Theater, Artisan Main Stage, and beyond.
