Bright Star

Community Series | Feb 9 - Mar 2

Director - Hayden Casey

Music and story by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell
Lyrics by Edie Brickell
Book by Steve Martin

When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past – and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. Propelled by an ensemble of onstage musicians and dancers, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion, beautiful melodies and powerfully moving performances. An uplifting theatrical journey that holds you tight in its grasp, Bright Star is as refreshingly genuine as it is daringly hopeful.

Community series | April 12 - May 4

Director - Tron Sutton

A Comedy by Stephen Temperley
Dramatists Play Service

For more than half a century the name Florence Foster Jenkins has been guaranteed to produce explosions of derisive laughter. Not unreasonably so, as this wealthy society eccentric suffered under the delusion that she was a great coloratura soprano when she was in fact incapable of producing two consecutive notes in tune. Nevertheless, her annual recitals in the ballroom of the Ritz Carlton hotel brought her extraordinary fame. Her growing mob of fans packed her recitals, stuffing handkerchiefs in their mouths to stifle their laughter—which Mrs. Jenkins blissfully mistook for cheers. SOUVENIR, by turn hilarious and poignant, tells her story through the eyes of her accompanist, Cosme McMoon. Eyewitness accounts of their concerts vary so wildly it is almost impossible now to separate fact from gossip. Hence this fictional “biography,” in which we follow the story of their partnership from its earliest days to their infamous concert in Carnegie Hall and its aftermath. With each new imagined triumph Florence’s confidence soars. Faced with her boundless certainty, Cosme comes to revise his attitude, not only towards her singing but to the very meaning of music itself. A musical odd-couple for the ages.

Customer Reviews

We saw The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe today, and loved it!!!! The actors were awesome, and did a great job involving the audience. The theater is small enough that there is not a bad seat in the house. We will definitely look forward to returning for more productions!

I had such an endearing and fabulous time today! The children work so hard and preform beautifully! The set design is spectacular and production is first class! What a great experience! Treat yourself to LIVE theatre! Cost/value is unmatched at the Artisan!

- Lee Anne Gierisch 2022
Loved everything about our experience. Everyone was so accommodating and helpful getting our tickets and finding our seats. The show was entertaining in every way. My children were laughing and connecting to the actors and adults were joining in and interacting with the show too. The actors engaged with us and made us feel a part of the show. So thankful to still have a local theater to enjoy the arts!

The talent was incredible and we loved the passion from these young artists! Only once did an older man run into my special needs son on the front row. A bit dangerous for us, but we loved it overall! It was an honor to enjoy these talented kids that could someday have a career in Show biz!

- Carol Hare 2020
We attended the Curious George show at the Artisan Children's Theater and it was a great experience for my 3 year old. The show was very cute, the actors did great, and it was a wonderfully tailored experience for little kids. We look forward to going to another show in the future!

Through every Artisan production, we hope to create dreammakers in our community through ...

... in the performing arts.

Ive taken my children to several shows there and it has never let us down, What appears to be an old and often overlook facility from the road is actually an amazing theatrical experience to behold.

Intimate seating and great local talent. Best theater in the area at a very reasonable price. It would also be a great introduction to the theater for younger people (children and teens) and a good way to spark interest in acting.

An absolute gem! This is BY FAR my favorite children's theatre in the area. The productions are always SO well done, the tickets prices are incredibly reasonable and there isn't a bad seat in the house. My kiddos particularly appreciate the opportunity to interact with the cast and take photos after each show. We just adore this place and hope to never miss a show!

This theater is where you go to find a family. The acting and singing are incredible but getting to know one another and connecting with them is the real treasure Artisan holds.

I love taking my daughter here! This local theater has great musicals and even offers acting classes for the kids.

There's a concession stand where all proceeds go to production costs, so bring some cash. They also opened up an inexpensive little gift shop recently. Get on their mailing list to keep up with the productions. I've only been to the family shows and they're really well done. Be careful if you're seated on the south wall... you're not getting up to use the bathroom!

My daughter did theater camp here and she really enjoyed it. Their shows are impressive as well!
